The Blessing of Fire and local Fire bans

If a blazing fire cannot be lit outside the Church because of local fire bans, the Blessing of the Fire is adapted to the circumstances.  Consider using a doorway of the Church or other safe place with strong lines of visibility for the people gathered (RM 8 &13 pg 287, 289).

Some among you will remember Veronica Redding, “Godmother” to RCIA New Zealand.  Veronica passed away peacefully in the presence of family on 23 November 2017.  Her funeral was held at St Mary’s Nelson, the same Church where she received a papal medal for her work with the RCIA, just a few years ago.  May she rest in peace.
