Celebrate Mass Online

Latest news 10 June  - Level one means parishes can resume normal practices.

Now that the country has moved to Level 1, parishes are free to resume their normal practices, including the Sign of Peace, Communion under both kinds, Holy Water in fonts, and singing at Masses. There are no longer any restrictions on size of gatherings, no physical distancing requirements, and you no longer need to make available contact tracing registers.

Good hygiene practices must continue to be important at all gatherings.

Parishes will be making their own arrangements for contact tracing including obtaining the QR posters and using the NZ Government Covid Tracer app on smartphones to scan the QR code and keep a record of individual movements.

Shine TV will continue to film Mass every Sunday at 2pm pm. To view go to Freeview TV channel 25 or SkyTV channel 201.

25 May News

Online and televised Mass still available

As you will be aware the level 2 restrictions for gatherings at religious services is limited to 100. Some of you might be able to participate in your community's Sunday celebration of the Eucharist this weekend in your parish church. However others may not be able to yet. The following is an extract from the Bishops pastoral letter 26 May. The full letter is published on the NZCBC website. Here

"We share your joy at being able to celebrate Eucharist together. However we still have to live under the restrictions that are there for the good of our vulnerable and elderly. Each parish is going to have to determine how it will offer Masses while ensuring health guidelines are kept. this may mean some churches may not open immediately. It may mean that there are more people wanting to attend Mass than can be accommodated. We ask you to be patient and understanding while your parish leadership determine what will happen in your parish. With the Government we ask those who are vulnerable to the virus, those who are afraid and anyone who is not well to stay at home. all people continue to be dispensed from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass during this time."
